Pretty Domesticated: Local Couple Embraces DIY For New Home

Some homes are meant to be in magazines. Mine isn’t one of them.

But Katie and Daren Sullivan’s home definitely is. Their style is modern and chic with warmth added through natural elements and inviting textures and fabrics. Walking through their home is honestly like walking through a light-filled magazine spread. It’s amazing (to say the least).

Writing about their home and all of the great DIY projects they’ve completed to add even more character and charm to their home makes me want to DIY more. The first thing on my list would be the custom bookcase the couple created using IKEA bookcases. It’s gorgeous.

You can find more beautiful photos and projects on Katie’s website, Pretty Domesticated (trust me, they are all as delightful as Katie herself).

Check it out to see the baby gate Daren custom built for their second floor, the planter boxes he created for windowsills, or Katie’s handmade wall art in their daughter’s room made from pretty paper and basic frames. She even framed a sweet little piece of Eva’s artwork to adorn the bathroom wall.

You can read the entire piece here, and take a look at more photos taken by the incomparable Alex Floersch below.
